OKEECHOBEE RODEO

Okeechobee is located just north of the Lake, its namesake. It is the the largest inland body of water in Florida. While many people think of the ocean and Disney World when you mention Florida, Okeechobee is cattle and bass fishing country. It still has its quaint main street and a wide park in the middle of town.

This town is proud of its character, its roots and traditions. Despite the intense heat and humidity, you will not catch any of the men from Okeechobee going to the Rodeo in shorts. The men in shorts in the crowd were from out of town. Some of the local women wear hair styles from decades ago, still beautiful but from a different time.
